Fresh Pathways Program Overview 

Fresh Pathways is a structured support program designed for incoming freshmen and rising sophomores at Â鶹´«Ã½ who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine.

 This Program offers: 

• Personalized academic and career guidance
• Access to early assurance/ acceptance and medical school interview opportunities through our partner medical schools.
• Access to academic support and resources

Students are selected early in their academic journey to receive the guidance and resources needed to build a strong foundation for medical school 

Eligibility: Open to incoming freshmen and rising sophomore currently enrolled or accepted at CSU. 

Progression through the program will depend on successful academic performance as well as recommendation from the academic advisor. 

Incoming freshmen and rising CSU sophomores  must meet all of the following requirements:  

• Suggested overall high school of 3.0  or college GPA of 3.3 or higher
• Complete an  that includes an essay on why you want to be part of the program.
• Submit high school transcript or college transcripts
• Submit a letter of recommendation from a school counselor/ advisor, employer or foster care case manage . Veterans, can submit a letter of recommendation from their Commanding Officer or Officer in Charge.
• Applied and accepted to CSU
• Successful interview with the program selection committee

Students who identify as the following are strongly encouraged to apply: 

• Come from a disadvantaged background or whose school district tested in the lower 50th percentile on state standardized testing or was eligible for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program for two or more years.
• Come from an underserved background or from a low-income household
• First to go to college in your family, veteran or graduate of the foster care system

HOW TO APPLY

Applications open January 2025

After applying and getting accepted to CSU, students will need to submit a complete Fresh Pathway application packet. 

The application packet includes: 

• Complete a
• Official or Unofficial Transcripts
• Letter of recommendation from a high school guidance counselor, foster care case manager, or Commanding officer/Officer in Charge, college advisor or employer

Documents such as letter or recommendations and unofficial transcripts should be submitted here.

•  Submit all information at one time.
• Please submit transcripts and recommendation letters in one email. Use the following formats when saving and re-naming documents: 

 last name _first name_ freshpathway (example: smith_john_freshpathway)
